The African Family Health Organization helps members of the African and Caribbean immigrant and refugee communities in the Philadelphia and Delaware Counties with accessing health and wellness services, nutrition education, maternal child health programs, and other needed services. AFAHO provides unique and strategic services to these underserved communities by breaking through cultural, geographic, economic, and linguistic barriers in order to help families in the community. Understanding that children can be agents of change within their own homes, AFAHO developed a nutrition education and health literacy program for African immigrant and refugee children to encourage healthy eating habits, understand food labels and increase physical activity.
