The Food Law and Policy Clinic (FLPC) was established in 2010 to address growing concerns about the environmental, health and economic consequences of the laws and policies that make up the structure of the food system. FLPC works with advocates, nonprofits, community-based organizations, and other food system stakeholders to understand and improve the laws impacting the food system, and to create cutting-edge policy recommendations. In June 2016, the Claneil Foundation supported FLPC’s first national conference, “Reduce and Recover: Save Food for People.” The two-day event convened over 300 food entrepreneurs, practitioners, policymakers, and enthusiasts to further the public dialogue on reaching the EPA and USDA’s national food waste reduction goal of 50% by 2030. This Critical Issue Fund grant will support FLPC’s overall mission to reduce food waste through law and policy.
